Born and educated in Adelaide, Prudence and Maryleigh are based in Sydney, where for over 10 years they have been performing in recitals, concerts, soirees and recordings. With this extensive repertoire and experience they can offer a huge range of programs for various occasions. Our repertoire includes works by: Bach, Barber, Bellini, Berg, Berlioz, Brahms, Brambilla, Britten, Colbran, Cesti, Debussy, Donizetti, Duparc, Falla, Fauré, Gagliano, Granados, Grieg, Gurney, Handel, Mahler, Malibran, Mozart, Monteverdi, Poulenc, Purcell, Quilter, Ravel, Scarlatti, Schoenberg, Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, Richard Strauss, Verdi, Weill, Wolf and others.

In 2008, Prudence and Maryleigh performed a major work by Schoenberg at the inaugural Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists in Adelaide. Engagements in 2009 included full length recitals in Sydney and Adelaide (to raise funds for the Adelaide Eisteddfod Society) entitled Reflections of Nancy Thomas, featuring the repertoire of the celebrated English contralto. The programs included Dvorak’s famous Gypsy Songs, Op. 55, performed in a new English version devised by Prudence. On August 1st, 2010, we presented the recital, Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness at St John’s Uniting Church, including songs by Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, Barber and Burleigh. In 2011 we are presenting two recitals, Robert, Clara & Johannes—Love & Friendship, in June, and Sweeter than Roses in September. 2011 ¨ ‘Sweeter than Roses—A Musical Bouquet’ —Sunday September 18th, St John’s Uniting Church, Neutral Bay, NSW. The program featured songs and piano works by English, French, German and Spanish composers, from the Baroque to the Twentieth Century. All proceeds went to ‘Act for Peace’, the international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia. ¨ ‘Robert, Clara and Johannes: Love and Friendship’—Sunday 26th June, at St John’s Anglican Church, Darlinghurst, NSW. This recital featured the songs and piano compositions of Robert and Clara Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. The program included Robert Schumann’s song cycle, Gedichte der Königin Maria Stuart (Poems of Queen Mary Stuart) Op. 135 and Johannes Brahms’ Vier ernste Gesänge (Four Serious Songs) Op. 121. The recital was part of the inaugural music series The Music Project. 2010 ¨ ‘Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness’—Sunday August 1st, St John’s Uniting Church, Neutral Bay, NSW. A recital of spiritual Songs by Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, Barber & Burleigh. The program included Beethoven’s Sechs Lieder, Op. 48 and selections from Samuel Barber’s Hermit Songs, Op. 29. Proceeds to ‘Act for Peace’. 2009 ¨ 32nd National Conference of the Musicological Society of Australia, Newcastle, September26th–29th. Paper and performance: Bridging three Languages: Creating a singable translation of Dvorak’s Zigeunermelodien, Op. 55, (1880). ¨ ‘Reflections of Nancy Thomas’—Sunday September 6th, Pilgrim Church, Adelaide, SA. Music by Purcell, Handel, Schubert, Brahms, Villiers Stamford, Hamilton Harty, Quilter, Dvořák, Gretchaninov, Rachmaninoff, Burleigh. The program featured Prudence’s new English version of Dvořák’s Gypsy Songs, Op. 55. ¨ ‘Reflections of Nancy Thomas’—Sunday August 16th, St John’s Uniting Church, Neutral Bay, NSW. 2008 ¨ Australian Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists, Adelaide, May 30th–June 1st.
